What Is Nusuk Hajj (Direct Hajj), and How Is It Different from Before?
16 September 2026
If you've started looking into Hajj as a UK resident, you've probably come across the name "Nusuk" more than once — on packages, in visa paperwork, in conversations with agents. It's worth understanding what it actually is, because it changed how Hajj booking works for pilgrims from countries like the UK more than almost anything else in recent years.
Nusuk Hajj — officially the Direct Hajj Program — is a platform launched and overseen by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. It was built specifically for pilgrims from countries with Muslim minorities that don't have an official Hajj mission of their own managing pilgrims' affairs, the UK among them. Rather than leaving each country to arrange things independently, the Ministry now oversees every part of the journey for these pilgrims directly — qualifying which companies are allowed to offer packages, building the packages themselves, monitoring service quality, and setting fair pricing. Pilgrims book and pay for their package directly through Nusuk's own digital platform.
Before this existed, the picture for UK pilgrims was far less centralised. Without an official Hajj mission of our own, there was no single, government-backed channel to book through — pilgrims relied on a patchwork of local travel agents, each with their own arrangements, contacts, and levels of reliability. Pricing varied significantly from one agent to another with little way to compare fairly, visa processing could be slow and uncertain, and — because there was no unified oversight — the door was open for less scrupulous operators to take advantage of pilgrims who had no easy way to verify who was actually legitimate.
Nusuk closed that gap. It's now the only approved platform for Hajj packages and visas for countries covered by the Direct Hajj Program — no package or visa can be obtained through any outside platform or entity. Every company offering packages has been vetted by the Ministry itself, pricing sits within bands the Ministry monitors, and payment goes directly from the pilgrim to the Ministry's own platform, not through a chain of intermediaries where money and accountability can get lost.
That last point is exactly where we fit in. At Nusuk Hajj Alliance UK, we take the hassle out of the Nusuk process for you — handling every step from registration through to purchasing your package, so you're not left figuring out an unfamiliar government platform alone. Each pilgrim gets their own dedicated email address and login, used only by them. You pay directly to the Ministry's platform yourself — no one else is involved in that transaction, not even us. And if your application is ever unsuccessful, refunds go back through the Ministry to your original payment source, exactly as the system is designed to work.
None of this needs to feel like paperwork you're navigating on your own. Whether you're just starting to look into Hajj 2027 or you're ready to register, our team is here for the whole process, not just the booking moment — get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
